Today much of the class was out with Desert Fire. We did not do this lesson and will catch up on it in two weeks...

Topic

  • Typing Status Check
  • Intro to Presentation Types and Possibilities
    • Power Point
    • Prezi

Activity

At this point, we have finished up the Beginnner portion of the TypingWeb course, and by now you should be able to do the following:

- Type the home row keys without looking at your fingers.
- Be very comfortable with the location of all of the basic keys (the alphabet, space bar, backspace, etc.)
- Be able to slowly complete the typing test without looking at your fingers

If this is not the case, you should take a look at your practice methods - it might be that you are looking at your fingers even though you don't realize it or are are practicing your typing with divided attention (perhaps while watching tv or something).

So we will take a test today. We will document our wpm and accuracy and calculate the average wpm and accuracy for the class. We will post this and see how we are comparing to the 6th and 7th grade classes.

Following, we will begin an introduction to our study of presenting information visually. We will spend the next few weeks looking at Power Point and Prezi. Today we will begin with a look at Prezi.... and next week will do some fun things with this site! For today, we will learn what a prezi is, find out how it is different from Power Point, and post an example of a Prezi we liked to the Wiki Discussion Board.
